A general profiling of the various clients and their mindset

A general profiling of the various clients and their mindset

1.1 Executive/ Professionals ( Age 30 to 50+)

CLIENT'S THINKING:

hey may look for

-Weight loss of so and so kg.

- losing the belly

- Increase stemina and energy.

They don't want to build muscle or not into bodybuilding. They expect their training and nutrition schedule to be different and milder than younger fitness enthusiasts due to their supposedly easier/ less ambitious goal.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS:

Loss of excess body weight needs to be in the form of fat loss not muscle loss.

Bodybuilders or Athletes are not only ones who need to be fanatical about their muscle mass and strength. We all need to work towards building a strong and fit body for increased productivity at work or home and to enjoy a better quality of life. The increase in metabolism through muscle gain and loss of excess fat baggage is the real secret to an energetic body and active mind. It is, by far, the only physical activity that will result in fighting off age related degeneration and thus preserve youth.

1.2 Ladies ( housewives/ Working ladies/ Socialites) from the age of 30- 50+:

CLIENT'S THINKING:

They may visualize a slimming process to get rid of excess bulging fat. Even though a loss in inches and a slimmer figure may give them the best pleasure, many tend to keep checking the weighing scale and thinking about drastic ways to drop an unrealistic amount of weight in periods as short as a week. They tend to get attracted to various fad/ crash diet being followed in their social circle. They may fear ' geeting bulky' or looking like a man and may therefore overdo their cardiovascular workout and avoid weight training or pushing the maximum weights proportional to their strength.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS:

Women cannot get bulky by weight training because of miniscule quantities if male hormone testosterone that boosts anabolism and  a greater muscle growth in men.

Women tend to have a higher body fat % and less skeletal muscle mass than men. Thus, women need to weight training more than their male counterparts. Only by training with weight corresponding to their maximum potential can they overcome the limitation of gender and stimulate greater muscle growth, increase in metabolic rate and thus greater fat loss.

Women also face a risk of osteoporosis near menopause.

Depriving the body of nutrients esp. protein through crash/ fad diet peads to loss of muscle and slows down metabolism further.

Theses losses are compounded even  more if combined with excessive cardio training. Even body weight may have dropped but has higher body fat than before and thus unhealtheir and her body will tend to store excess fat more easily than before.

1.3 Senior citizens:

CLIENT'S THINKING:

They may have a certain level of fitness consciousness. But their mindset could range from being eager to learn new ways to help delay ageing and hence enthusiastic and disciplined about training and diet, to a more rigid mindset that they believe 'is too old to change'. They may underestimate their own strength, believing that muscle weakness is inevitable with age and deliberately limit their exercise due to a fear of injuries.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS:

Ageing may not be totally avoidable but can definitely be delayed, even reversed to a great extent in some cases. Ageing predominantly is nothing but a loss of muscle mass and strength due to increased catabolism and breakdown of all body proteins. A greater production of free radicals and weakened antioxidant defense is the main etiological factor.

Saturated fats, an adequate intake of first class protein and antioxidants is the best anti ageing formula.

Right nutrition and progressively increased strength training can grow muscle performance.

1.4 Students and the Employed Youth:

CLIENT'S THINKING:

More aesthetic goals. Wants tone up or to get big or to get a lean body like a favorite person.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS:

When a client wants to tone up means an increase in muscle tissue which is by its very physiology, firm and shapely, and a loss of body fat which is by its very physiology, soft and flabby.

Wanting to get big or increase size is again a desire for maximal muscle growth and hypertrophy with minimal increas in body fat.

A well proportioned lean body can only be achieved by training all muscle groups and proper nutrition.

If you look closely at the above groups, you'll notice that whatever may be the language used or the body image visualized, ALL THE  ABOVE CLIENT GOALS ARE THE SAME!
